Daniel Ringgold, 37, of Pennsauken, was arrested on Thursday, Sept. 19, the Atlantic City Police Department said in a news release on Friday, Sept. 27.
Investigators said Ringgold was driving a vehicle on Atlantic Avenue at around 5:15 p.m. when his license plate was read, triggering an alert. Ringgold had several active arrest warrants.
Officers stopped the vehicle near the intersection of Vermont and Atlantic avenues. Ringgold tried to give false information to the officers but he was taken into custody.
Police searched Ringgold's vehicle and found a loaded gun. Amanda Hoss, 37, of Camden, was with Ringgold in his vehicle and also gave officers false information. She has several active arrest warrants and is considered a fugitive in this case.
Ringgold was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a large capacity magazine, certain person not to possess a weapon, and hindering apprehension. Hoss was wanted on the same charges.
Ringgold was held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
In a separate incident, a stolen vehicle triggered an alert when it entered the city at around 10:29 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 25. The vehicle was reported stolen from Union earlier that day.
Officers stopped the vehicle near the base of the Atlantic City Expressway. Tyrell Ellis of Mays Landing was arrested and was found to be driving without a license.
Ellis, 27, was charged with receiving stolen property. He was released on a summons with a future court date.
